Sabai Design
We worked with Sabai as a designer and consultant to prepare their furniture line for the circular economy.
By modernizing traditional craft techniques, our redesigns not only improved sustainability, but also reduced costs of goods sold and simplified the end user’s experience.
The resulting, updated product is designed-for-disassembly, and allowed Sabai to launch its “Repair Don’t Replace” buyback program, pioneering a new way forward for the furniture industry.
The soup-to-nuts consulting project addressed all production touchpoints, from manufacturing (each design change was made within the constraints of contemporary factory capabilities) through to packaging redesign for improved transit and assembly.
